Tasty Mushroom Swiss Burger (No Egg)

Tasty Mushroom Swiss Burger (No Egg) is a delicious, juicy burger that skips the egg but never the flavor! Each patty is loaded with savory seasonings, topped with golden sautéed mushrooms and melty Swiss cheese, and served on a toasted bun. Perfect for anyone avoiding eggs or just craving a classic, satisfying burger.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 8 ounces cremini or white mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 burger buns
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for toasting buns)
  • Lettuce, tomato, and pickles (optional, for serving)
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, gently mix ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Do not overmix.
  2. Form the beef into 4 equal patties, about 3/4-inch thick. Press a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb (this helps them cook evenly).
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced mushrooms (and onions, if using). Sauté for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until mushrooms are browned and any liquid has evaporated. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet or on a grill, cook the burger patties for 3–4 minutes per side, or until desired doneness. In the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a mound of sautéed mushrooms and a slice of Swiss cheese. Cover the pan or close the grill lid to melt the cheese.
  5. While the burgers cook, melt butter in a separate pan or on a griddle. Toast the buns, cut side down, until golden brown.
  6. Assemble the burgers: Spread mayonnaise and Dijon mustard on the bottom buns if desired. Add lettuce and tomato, then top with the mushroom Swiss burger patty. Add pickles if you like, then the top bun.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy your egg-free mushroom Swiss burgers!
