This Slow Cooker Turkey Green Chili Stew is a comforting and flavorful dish that’s perfect for any time of the year. With a blend of ground turkey, Anaheim peppers, and Jersey salsa verde, this stew offers a delightful combination of heat and heartiness, making it a family favorite.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs 93% fat-free ground turkey
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 carrots, sliced
- 3 Anaheim peppers, chopped
- 2 cups Jersey salsa verde
- 1 can (15 oz) white beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) hominy, drained and rinsed
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
- Transfer the browned turkey to the slow cooker.
- Add the chopped onion, sliced carrots, and chopped Anaheim peppers to the slow cooker.
- Pour in the Jersey salsa verde, white beans, hominy, and chicken broth.
- Stir in the ground cumin, dried oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the vegetables are tender and the flavors are well combined.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
