Ingredients

  • 1 package (approx. 16 oz) Trader Joe's Bolsa Bulgogi Beef
  • 1.5 lbs (fresh or frozen) Broccoli Florets
  • 0.5 cup (or more, to taste) Trader Joe's Soyaki Sauce
  • 3 cloves, minced (or 1 tbsp Trader Joe's minced garlic) Garlic
  • 1 tbsp, grated (or 1 tbsp Trader Joe's grated ginger) Fresh Ginger
  • 1 tbsp Neutral Cooking Oil (e.g., Grapeseed, Avocado)
  • 1 tsp, for garnish Toasted Sesame Seeds
  • 2 stalks, thinly sliced, for garnish Green Onions
  • 4 servings Cooked Rice (for serving)

Instructions

  1. 1.

If using fresh broccoli, wash and cut into bite-sized florets. If using frozen, no need to thaw. Mince the garlic and grate the ginger. Thinly slice the green onions for garnish, separating the white and green parts if desired.

  2. 2.

Heat 1 tablespoon of neutral cooking oil in a large sauté pan or wok over medium-high heat. Once shimmering, add the Trader Joe's Bolsa Bulgogi Beef (or Beefless Bulgogi). Spread it out in a single layer and cook for 3-4 minutes without stirring to allow it to sear and brown slightly. Then, stir and cook for another 2-3 minutes until mostly cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside, leaving any rendered fat in the pan.

  3. 3.

Add the broccoli florets to the same pan. If the pan seems dry, add another teaspoon of oil. Sauté the broccoli for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it's tender-crisp and slightly charred in spots. If using frozen broccoli, it may take a few minutes longer to cook off excess moisture.

  4. 4.

Push the broccoli to one side of the pan. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the empty side of the pan. Sauté for 30-60 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

  5. 5.

Return the cooked bulgogi beef to the pan with the broccoli, garlic, and ginger. Pour the Trader Joe's Soyaki Sauce over everything. Stir well to coat all the beef and broccoli evenly.

  6. 6.

Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has slightly thickened and everything is heated through. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary; you may add a splash more Soyaki if desired.

  7. 7.

Remove the pan from the heat. Divide the "Bulgogi" Beef & Broccoli among 4 serving bowls, preferably over a bed of freshly cooked rice. Garnish generously with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Tips

  • 💡**Don't Overcrowd the Pan:** For the best sear on the bulgogi, cook it in batches if your pan isn't large enough. Overcrowding will steam the meat instead of browning it.
  • 💡**Adjust Soyaki to Taste:** Trader Joe's Soyaki is a flavorful sauce, but you can always add a little more or less depending on your preference for sweetness and saltiness.
  • 💡**Vegetarian Option:** Easily make this dish vegetarian by using Trader Joe's Beefless Bulgogi. The cooking method remains largely the same, but it may require slightly less cooking time for the plant-based protein.
  • 💡**Serving Suggestion:** This dish is fantastic served with warm jasmine rice, brown rice, or even quinoa to soak up all the delicious sauce.
