Szechuan Kick Tacos
These vibrant fusion tacos bring together the bold, spicy, and savory flavors of Szechuan cuisine with the classic taco format. Featuring a quick-cooked ground meat and bell pepper filling, tucked into warm tortillas and topped with fresh cilantro and a squeeze of lime.
Ingredients
- •0.5 lb Ground Pork or Chicken (Trader Joe's brand)
- •1 piece Bell Pepper (Any color, finely diced)
- •0.5 piece Small Onion (Finely diced)
- •1 tbsp Trader Joe's Minced Garlic
- •1 tsp Trader Joe's Ginger Paste
- •2 tbsp Soy Sauce (Trader Joe's brand)
- •1 tbsp Rice Vinegar (Trader Joe's brand)
- •1-2 tsp Trader Joe's Chili Garlic Sauce (Adjust to your spice preference)
- •0.5 tsp Honey or Agave Nectar (Trader Joe's brand)
- •0.5 tsp Sesame Oil (Trader Joe's brand)
- •6 piece Corn or Flour Tortillas (Small street taco size recommended)
- •0.25 cup Fresh Cilantro (Chopped, for garnish)
- •1 piece Lime (Cut into wedges, for serving)
- •1 tbsp Vegetable Oil (For cooking)
Instructions

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili garlic sauce, honey/agave nectar, and sesame oil. Set aside.
Time: 2 min - 2.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or pan over medium-high heat. Add the ground pork or chicken and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
Time: 7 min - 3.
Add the diced bell pepper and onion to the skillet with the cooked meat. Sauté for 3-5 minutes until the vegetables start to soften.
Time: 5 min - 4.
Stir in the minced garlic and ginger paste and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Time: 1 min - 5.
Pour the prepared sauce mixture over the meat and vegetables. Stir well to coat everything and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
Time: 3 min - 6.
While the filling simmers, warm your tortillas. You can do this in a dry skillet over medium heat for 30 seconds per side, microwave briefly, or wrap in a damp paper towel and microwave.

To assemble, spoon the Szechuan filling into the warm tortillas. Garnish generously with fresh chopped cilantro and a squeeze of fresh lime juice.
