Ingredients

  • 1 cup Labneh
  • 1.5 tablespoons Harissa paste
  • 1 clove, minced Garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh mint, finely chopped
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 pinch Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley or mint, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. 1.

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the labneh, harissa paste, minced garlic, fresh lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, chopped fresh mint, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 2.

Stir vigorously with a spoon or whisk until all ingredients are well combined and the dip is smooth and creamy.

  3. 3.

Taste the dip and adjust seasoning as needed. Add more harissa for extra spice, more lemon juice for tang, or more salt to taste.

  4. 4.

Transfer the Spicy Labneh Dip to a serving bowl.

  5. 5.

Drizzle the remaining 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil over the top. You can swirl a little harissa into the oil for a vibrant red drizzle if desired.

  6. 6.

Dust lightly with smoked paprika and sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley or mint for garnish.

  7. 7.

For best flavor, cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

  8. 8.

Serve chilled with an assortment of fresh vegetables (cucumber slices, bell pepper strips, carrot sticks), pita bread, pita chips, or crackers.

Tips

  • 💡**Adjusting Spice**: Harissa paste varies in heat. Start with 1 tablespoon and add more gradually until you reach your desired spice level. A pinch of red pepper flakes can also be added for an extra kick.
  • 💡**Homemade Labneh**: For an authentic touch, you can make your own labneh by straining plain whole milk yogurt (Greek yogurt works well) through cheesecloth overnight in the refrigerator.
  • 💡**Serving Suggestions**: This dip is incredibly versatile. Pair it with warm pita bread, crisp vegetables like cucumbers, carrots, and bell peppers, or even as a spread in sandwiches and wraps.
  • 💡**Make Ahead**: This dip can be prepared up to 2 days in advance and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. The flavors will deepen over time.
