Ingredients

  • 2 cups Fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled
  • 2 medium Ripe bananas, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup Plain or vanilla low-fat yogurt
  • 1 cup Milk (dairy or non-dairy, e.g., almond milk)
  • 1-2 tablespoons Honey or maple syrup (optional, to taste)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Vanilla extract (optional)
  • 0.5 cup Ice cubes (optional, if using fresh fruit and prefer colder/thicker)

Instructions

  1. 1.

If using fresh strawberries, wash them thoroughly and hull them (remove the green tops). Peel and slice the bananas.

  2. 2.

Add the hulled strawberries, sliced bananas, yogurt, milk, optional honey or maple syrup, and optional vanilla extract to a high-speed blender.

  3. 3.

If using fresh fruit and desiring a colder, thicker smoothie, add the optional ice cubes to the blender.

  4. 4.

Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides of the blender with a spatula if necessary to ensure all ingredients are incorporated.

  5. 5.

Taste the smoothie and adjust sweetness if desired by adding more honey or maple syrup, or add a splash more milk for a thinner consistency.

  6. 6.

Pour the smoothie into four glasses and serve immediately.

Tips

  • 💡For an extra thick and cold smoothie, use frozen strawberries and frozen banana slices. You might need less or no ice if using all frozen fruit.
  • 💡Adjust the amount of milk to achieve your desired consistency. For a thicker smoothie, use less milk; for a thinner one, add more.
  • 💡To boost protein, add a scoop of your favorite unflavored or vanilla protein powder.
  • 💡For an added nutritional kick, a handful of spinach can be blended in; it will change the color slightly but won't affect the taste significantly.
  • 💡If you prefer a sweeter smoothie without added sugar, ensure your bananas are very ripe, as they contribute natural sweetness.
