Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar (or rice vinegar)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (for garnish)
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 5-6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Reduce the heat to medium. Pour the honey garlic sauce mixture into the same skillet. Bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Stir the slurry into the simmering sauce and cook for 1-2 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
- Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, turning to coat them in the glaze. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes, spooning sauce over the chicken.
- Remove from heat. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or vegetables.
