German Kinderpunsch (Non-Alcoholic Christmas Punch)

Ingredients

  • 3 cups apple juice or apple cider
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • 1 cup cherry juice (sweet or tart, to taste)
  • 2 cups water
  • 3–4 hibiscus or red fruit tea bags (or loose hibiscus petals)
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 2–3 whole cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 star anise (optional)
  • 1–2 tablespoons honey or sugar (to taste)
  • Fresh cranberries, extra orange slices, or cinnamon sticks for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine apple juice, orange juice, cherry juice, and water. Add the lemon and orange slices, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and star anise.
  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes to let the flavors infuse.
  3. Add the hibiscus or fruit tea bags. Cover and let steep for 10 minutes.
  4. Remove the tea bags and strain out the spices and fruit slices if desired.
  5. Stir in honey or sugar to taste. Reheat gently if needed.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cranberries, orange slices, or a cinnamon stick in each mug.
