Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh bread crumbs (from about 4-5 slices of white or brioche bread, crusts removed)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon coffee liqueur (optional, or use milk)
- Pinch of salt
- Cocoa powder, finely chopped nuts, or sprinkles for coating
Instructions
- Place the chocolate chips, heavy cream, and butter in a heatproof bowl. Microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring after each, until melted and smooth. Alternatively, melt over a double boiler.
- Stir in the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, coffee liqueur (if using), and a pinch of salt until well combined.
- Add the fresh bread crumbs to the chocolate mixture. Mix thoroughly until a thick, sticky dough forms. Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for 30-45 minutes until firm enough to handle.
- Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions and roll into balls using your hands.
- Roll each truffle in cocoa powder, chopped nuts, or sprinkles to coat.
- Place the finished truffles on a parchment-lined tray. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to set.
- Serve chilled or at room temperature. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Enjoy your homemade chocolate bread crumb truffles!
