This homemade baby food recipe combines the natural sweetness of blueberries and strawberries with the refreshing taste of cucumber and the nutritional benefits of spinach. It’s a perfect blend for your little one, offering a variety of essential vitamins and minerals.
Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled
- 1/2 cup cucumber, peeled and chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh spinach leaves
- 1/4 cup water (or as needed)
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients:
- Wash the blueberries, strawberries, and spinach thoroughly under running water.
- Hull the strawberries by removing the green leafy tops.
- Peel the cucumber and chop it into small pieces.
- Blend the Ingredients:
- Place the blueberries, strawberries, cucumber pieces, and spinach leaves into a blender or food processor.
- Add 1/4 cup of water to help with blending.
- Blend the mixture until it reaches a smooth consistency. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides of the blender to ensure everything is well mixed.
- Adjust Consistency:
- If the puree is too thick, add a little more water, a tablespoon at a time, until you reach the desired consistency for your baby.
- Serve or Store:
- Serve the puree fresh to your baby.
- If storing, pour the puree into ice cube trays and freeze. Once frozen, transfer the cubes to a freezer-safe bag or container. This allows you to thaw and use small portions as needed.
- Thawing Instructions:
- To thaw, place a cube or two in a bowl and let it sit at room temperature or warm it gently in a bowl over hot water.
Tips
- Always check the temperature of the food before serving to your baby.
- This puree can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours or in the freezer for up to 1 month.
- Ensure all fruits and vegetables are fresh and organic if possible to avoid any pesticides or chemicals.
