Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry is a classic, quick, and flavorful dinner that brings together tender beef strips and crisp broccoli in a savory garlic-soy sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights, this dish is served over steamed rice and is sure to satisfy your craving for takeout at home!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced (optional)
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooked white or brown rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, beef broth (or water), and sesame oil (if using). Set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef, season with black pepper, and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove beef from the pan and set aside.
  3. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil to the pan. Add broccoli florets and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until bright green and just tender. Add a splash of water if needed to help steam the broccoli.
  4. Add minced garlic (and ginger, if using) to the pan and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the pan. Pour in the sauce mixture and stir well to coat everything evenly.
  6. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens and everything is heated through.
  7. Serve hot over cooked rice.
